When you're not where you want to be, don't give up!
By: anna abrahams
You know the days when you feel a million miles away from the person you want to be or the situation you want to find yourself in?
I know that feeling all too well. It's like everything in you wants to give up and say, "I'm not there, so I guess I'll never be there..."
And of course, that's exactly what the enemy of our souls is after: our defeat.
But the cool thing about walking with Jesus is that He doesn't leave us where we're at. There's grace.
But what does that mean? Grace? Does that mean I should stay where I shouldn't be and let grace cover me? No way.
Paul talked about this very thing in Romans 6:
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Obviously, grace isn't staying where we're at.
But what is it?
Well Paul said that Grace teaches us:
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
My pastor explains it like this: Grace is our teacher that won't let us stay where we are. It teaches us to live in a sober, righteous and Godly way.
So the next time you want to give up in defeat, call out to God. Ask for his grace to teach you and bring you where you need to be.
Don't give up! He won't leave you. He will bring you to stand before his throne, blameless! (woohoo)
